VOLUNTEERING AT COMMUNITY REACH
Volunteers play a key role in helping to fulfill our mission. In an effort to ensure that your experience at Community REACH is positive and rewarding, we ask that you please review the following information.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
All volunteers must SIGN IN & SIGN OUT at the front desk.
Dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes.
Leave purses, jewelry and other valuables at home or locked in your car trunk.
Refrain from removing items from the premises.
Limit cell phone usage to emergency calls.
Headphones and earbuds are NOT permitted (for your safety).
No one under the influence of illegal drugs and/or alcohol will be permitted to volunteer.
Sexual harassment, violence, harassing behavior or offensive speech will not be tolerated.
Refrain from discriminating against any individual for any reason.
Maintain respectful and cooperative interactions with other volunteers, staff members, and clients.
There are many little tasks that can be accomplished during down time. Anything you do to help is
greatly appreciated. (e.g. sweeping/vacuuming, wiping down shelves/countertops, tables, etc.)
Confidentiality is of utmost importance. Refrain from sharing client information with anyone outside of Community REACH.
Access to the facility is only permitted during office hours, unless prior arrangements are made with the Director.
Volunteers are permitted to partake of food and beverage items at the direction of the Director and/or Volunteer Coordinator.
SAFETY PROCEDURES
Refrain from running, eating or drinking in the food pantry.+
Smoking on the Community REACH property is prohibited.
Horseplay, climbing on the equipment, machinery or pallets is prohibited.
All accidents and injuries must be reported immediately to a Community REACH staff member.
Regularly sanitize hands, especially after handling food items and visiting the restroom.
Observe good housekeeping habits. Clean up your work area at the end of your shift.
Report any safety hazards immediately to a staff member.
Use proper lifting techniques: when lifting heavy objects, use your legs to push upwards, keep your
back straight and your body balanced. Don’t attempt to lift more than 40 pounds without assistance.
Necklaces and long earrings pose a safety concern; please remove if necessary.

Community REACH will NOT be responsible for any missing personal belongings.
SCHEDULING
Maintain a consistent schedule so the staff can plan accordingly.
Your commitment to keeping a consistent schedule is greatly appreciated.
If you are unable to volunteer due to illness, an emergency, or weather-related conditions, please contact the Director and/or Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible. If you have planned time off, please inform the Director and/or Volunteer Coordinator as soon as you can.
